Charging an electric rental
Return an electric car with the charge it had at pickup. If it comes back lower, recharging costs $10 for each 10% of battery, plus a $25 service fee. Public chargers are common in Toronto, at shopping centres, parking garages and along the highways. Ask us at the handover how the car's charging port and cable work.
Hybrids need no charging
A regular hybrid fills up with gas like any other car and charges its own battery as you drive. A plug-in hybrid can be charged for a short electric range and runs on gas after that. Return either one with the fuel it had at pickup.
Winter and range
Cold weather shortens an electric car's range, so plan longer winter trips with a charging stop. Pre-heating the car while it is plugged in helps, and so does keeping the cabin a little cooler on the highway. A hybrid is not affected in the same way, which makes it the easier choice for a long winter drive.
Questions
Do I have to return an electric car fully charged?

What if I return it with less charge?
Recharging costs $10 for each 10% of battery, plus a $25 service fee.
Do hybrids need to be plugged in?
