Toronto Pearson is the busiest airport in Canada, and picking up a rental there usually means a walk, a line at a counter and a shuttle to a parking lot. CarmaCars does not have a counter at the airport. Instead, we bring the car to you at a meeting point we confirm before you land. This guide explains how it works.
Before you fly
Send a request for the car you want, with your pickup date and time, and choose delivery to the airport. In the notes, add:
- your airline and flight number,
- your terminal, if you know it,
- a phone number that works when you land.
We send an offer with the full price. Airport delivery is priced in the offer, and an airport surcharge may apply. Once you approve the offer, sign and pay, the car is booked. Do the identity check before you travel, so nothing is left to do at the airport.
When you land
Before pickup we confirm the meeting point and the number to call. When you have your bags, call or message us. A member of our team meets you with the car, checks your original licence and the card you paid with, and walks around the car with you while we photograph its condition. Then the keys are yours.
If your flight is late
Flights are delayed all the time. Message us with the new arrival time as soon as you know it, and we adjust the handover. If the delay is long, we may agree a new time with you.
Driving away from Pearson
The airport sits between the 427, the 401 and the 409. The 427 takes you south toward Etobicoke and downtown by the Gardiner Expressway, and the 401 runs east and west. The 407 ETR is close by to the north: it is a toll road with no booths, and its tolls are billed to us and passed on at cost with $15 for each notice. If you would rather avoid tolls, switch on the avoid tolls setting in your map app before you leave.
Returning the car before a flight
You can end your rental at Pearson too. Agree a time and a meeting point with us, and leave plenty of time before your flight. Return the car with the fuel or charge it had at pickup, and check the seats and the trunk for your things. We check the car with you, and you head to the terminal.
Choosing a car for an airport run
Think about luggage before you choose. Each car's page lists its seats and, where we have measured it, how many large bags fit in the trunk. A family of four with four big suitcases usually needs an SUV or a minivan rather than a compact car. If you need a baby seat, ask for it in your request: each one is $12 a day, capped at $70.
Kilometres and fuel
If you are flying in for a week and driving across Ontario, check the kilometres included on the car's page. The daily allowance is added up over the rental, so a long first day is fine. Return the car with the fuel or charge it had at pickup, and fill up near the airport before the return rather than on the way out of the city.
Other ways to start
If you would rather not drive at the airport at all, take the UP Express train to Union Station and have us meet you near the station, or have the car delivered to your hotel after you check in. Each of these is priced in your offer.
