Car Diagnostics in Ruby Ranch, NM

Getting it done

CarmaCars arranges mechanical work through shops around Toronto and does not do the work itself; Ruby Ranch is about 2,374 km away. The job: A diagnostic scan when a warning light is on or something feels wrong, by a trusted shop we arrange, not by CarmaCars. A warning light is the car asking for a diagnostic scan; the code tells the shop where to look.

The steps

The shop quotes the work itself; we do not add to its price. If the car cannot be driven, say so, and we arrange the next step with the shop. We tell you plainly when we do not know a shop for the job. Let us know where the car is and whether it is safe to drive.

What to ask

Ask whether the parts are new, rebuilt or used. Ask when the car will be ready and how the shop will tell you. Ask for the work to be listed line by line on the invoice. Keep the invoice; it is part of the car's service history.

Car care, briefly

Check that all lights work every few weeks. Look at the tire tread before long trips. Top up the washer fluid with a winter mix in the cold months.
