Emissions tests are required in some provinces and states; a licensed shop does the test.

Our part and the shop's part

We arrange the shop and the rental, and you keep control of the repair. Send a request with the car and what it needs. A person replies and arranges it with a trusted shop or recommends one. You deal with the shop for the repair itself, and with us for the rental. We keep you posted until the shop has the car booked in.

Talking to the shop

Ask how the shop takes payment before you pick the car up. Ask whether the shop will check anything related while the car is there. If a warning light was the reason, ask what the code was and what fixed it. If the car must stay overnight, ask where it will be kept.

Small things that help

Check that all lights work every few weeks. Have the cabin air filter changed on the maker's schedule. Have the battery tested before winter if it is more than a few years old.
