Who does what

We pass your details to a trusted shop or give you its name, as you prefer. Tell us what you notice: the noise, the light on the dash, or the job you want done. We can suggest a shop that suits the job and your location. Mention any warning lights or sounds; it helps the shop prepare.

Questions to ask the shop

Ask how long the job should take, so you know how long to rent for. If the car must stay overnight, ask where it will be kept. Ask whether the shop needs your keys, the wheel lock key or the spare. If a warning light was the reason, ask what the code was and what fixed it.

Car care, briefly

Switch to winter tires before the first snow, and back in spring. Use the grade of fuel your owner's manual calls for. Clear snow off the whole car, roof included, before you drive.
