Emissions tests are required in some provinces and states; a licensed shop does the test.

How we help

We tell you plainly when we do not know a shop for the job. If the car cannot be driven, say so, and we arrange the next step with the shop. You approve the shop's quote before any work begins. Tell us when suits you and whether the car can be driven.

Getting a clear quote

Ask whether the shop needs your keys, the wheel lock key or the spare. Ask if the shop needs the car for a full day or only a few hours. Ask when the car will be ready and how the shop will tell you. Ask whether anything else is close to needing attention, and how soon.

Between shop visits

Keep the spare, the jack and the wheel lock key where you can find them. Have the battery tested before winter if it is more than a few years old. Clear snow off the whole car, roof included, before you drive.
