The job: An emissions test or emissions repair where your province or state requires one, by a licensed shop we arrange, not by CarmaCars. Rules on emissions testing differ by province and state.

How the arrangement works

If you already have a shop you trust, we can still rent you a car meanwhile. We tell you plainly when we do not know a shop for the job. We can suggest a shop that suits the job and your location. If the car cannot be driven, say so, and we arrange the next step with the shop.

Small things that help

Note the mileage when each service is done, so you know when the next is due. Switch to winter tires before the first snow, and back in spring. Look at the tire tread before long trips.

Questions to ask the shop

Ask whether the shop will check anything related while the car is there. Ask when the car will be ready and how the shop will tell you. Ask the shop to call you before doing anything not on the estimate. Keep the invoice; it is part of the car's service history.
