The job: An emissions test or emissions repair where your province or state requires one, by a licensed shop we arrange, not by CarmaCars. Emissions tests are required in some provinces and states; a licensed shop does the test.

Who does what

You deal with the shop for the repair itself, and with us for the rental. Your request reaches a person, not a machine. We tell you plainly when we do not know a shop for the job. If the car cannot be driven, say so, and we arrange the next step with the shop.

Before the shop starts

Ask how the shop takes payment before you pick the car up. If you want to see the old parts, ask for them back. Keep the invoice; it is part of the car's service history. Ask whether the parts are new, rebuilt or used.

Car care, briefly

Keep the fuel tank above a quarter in winter. Switch to winter tires before the first snow, and back in spring. Have the battery tested before winter if it is more than a few years old.
