A short checklist
Ask whether the estimate includes tax and shop supplies. Ask whether the shop needs your keys, the wheel lock key or the spare. Ask the shop to call you before doing anything not on the estimate. Ask for a written estimate before any work starts.
Car care, briefly
Check the tire pressure once a month, when the tires are cold. If the car pulls to one side, ask the shop to check the alignment and the tires. Listen for new noises and mention them to the shop with as much detail as you can.
