Our part and the shop's part

Mention any warning lights or sounds; it helps the shop prepare. Your request reaches a person, not a machine. Send a request with the car and what it needs. A person replies and arranges it with a trusted shop or recommends one. You approve the shop's quote before any work begins.

Car care, briefly

Follow the maintenance schedule in your owner's manual, by time or distance. Note the mileage when each service is done, so you know when the next is due. Keep an emergency kit in the trunk in winter.

Questions to ask the shop

Ask how the shop will contact you if it finds something unexpected. Ask how long the job should take, so you know how long to rent for. Ask whether the estimate includes tax and shop supplies. Ask whether the shop needs your keys, the wheel lock key or the spare.

Toronto based
