An alignment keeps the car driving straight and the tires wearing evenly.

From request to repair

A person replies within one business day. Send a request with the car and what it needs. A person replies and arranges it with a trusted shop or recommends one. Mention any warning lights or sounds; it helps the shop prepare. The shop sets its own price and time, and you agree to them before any work.

Before the shop starts

Ask the shop to explain the repair in plain words before you agree. Ask whether the shop needs your keys, the wheel lock key or the spare. Ask how long the job should take, so you know how long to rent for. Ask for a written estimate before any work starts.

Small things that help

Keep the spare, the jack and the wheel lock key where you can find them. Note the mileage when each service is done, so you know when the next is due. Wash the underside of the car in winter to clear road salt.
