Shopping for a car in Ames

To be upfront: CarmaCars is a rental company and does not sell cars or arrange loans. We are not a lender and do not arrange loans. A monthly rental can bridge the time while you arrange one with your bank. We do not check credit for loans or lend money; renting needs a licence, an identity check and a card.

Drive it like you own it

Try the car with the people who will ride in it most. A rental lets you judge fuel use for yourself, on your own routes. Renting first means you buy knowing the car, not guessing.

Questions to ask

In Ontario, a private seller must give the buyer a Used Vehicle Information Package. Make sure every warning light goes out after the car starts. Ask whether the car has been in an accident and how it was repaired. Have a mechanic inspect a used car before you buy it, at a shop you choose.

Bridging the gap

Use a rental to try a different kind of car before you commit to one. Need a car for a road trip before you buy? Rent one for the trip. A monthly rental keeps life moving while your financing is sorted out elsewhere.

About distance

We are a Toronto company with no office or lot in Ames. The distance is about 1,576 km in a straight line, more than our delivery area of 250 km.
