Check the tires and brakes: replacing them adds to the real price. Confirm the ownership and that no money is still owed on the car. A Safety Standards Certificate is needed in Ontario to register a used car you buy. Look at real fuel use for the model, not only the advertised figure.
A car meanwhile
If the purchase falls through, you still have a car to drive. Weekly and monthly rates make a rental a sensible bridge between cars. Rent the kind of car you plan to buy while you shop for it.
