Buying a car in Baker

If financing for a car is what you need, know first that CarmaCars rents cars and does not sell them; here is what we can do. We are not a lender and do not arrange loans. A monthly rental can bridge the time while you arrange one with your bank. Banks and credit unions arrange car loans; CarmaCars does not, but we can rent you a car while you sort one out.

Why rent first

Try the car on a highway drive, a grocery run and a tight parking spot before you sign. A week of your own driving tells you more than twenty minutes with a salesperson: the commute, the parking, the fuel. Renting the model you are thinking of buying, for a day or a week, is a real test drive on your own roads.

What to check before you buy

Make sure every warning light goes out after the car starts. Check open recalls with Transport Canada or the maker, using the VIN. In Ontario, a private seller must give the buyer a Used Vehicle Information Package. Ask whether the car has been in an accident and how it was repaired.

Between cars

Waiting for a car on order? A monthly rental covers the wait, up to 365 days a booking. A rental means you never have to rush a purchase because you need wheels. There is no long contract: each booking runs up to 365 days and can be renewed.
