Auto Loans: what CarmaCars does

CarmaCars is not where you buy a car, but it can be where you try one first. Banks and credit unions arrange car loans; CarmaCars does not, but we can rent you a car while you sort one out. We do not check credit for loans or lend money; renting needs a licence, an identity check and a card.

Try it for a week first

Try the car on a highway drive, a grocery run and a tight parking spot before you sign. Renting the model first is a simple way to avoid buying the wrong car. A rental shows you the small things: the seat after an hour, the blind spots, the trunk with your stroller in it.

Before you sign

Ask how many owners the car has had and how it was used. Measure your parking spot or garage before you fall for a bigger car. Check the tires and brakes: replacing them adds to the real price. Check open recalls with Transport Canada or the maker, using the VIN.

A car meanwhile

Selling privately can take time; a rental means no rush. Between selling and buying, a weekly rental keeps the commute normal. Rent by the week while you compare, and stop the day your next car arrives.
