Buying a car in Proctors corner

CarmaCars is not where you buy a car, but it can be where you try one first. We are not a lender and do not arrange loans. A monthly rental can bridge the time while you arrange one with your bank. If credit is the obstacle, a monthly rental is one way to have a car while you sort it out; renting is not a loan, so there is no credit check.

Why rent first

Try the car with the people who will ride in it most. A week of your own driving tells you more than twenty minutes with a salesperson: the commute, the parking, the fuel. A rental lets you judge fuel use for yourself, on your own routes.

What to check before you buy

Ask for a test drive on the highway as well as in town. Check the date on the tires and the condition of the brakes. Have a mechanic inspect a used car before you buy it, at a shop you choose. A Safety Standards Certificate is needed in Ontario to register a used car you buy.

A car meanwhile

Rent the kind of car you plan to buy while you shop for it. Selling privately can take time; a rental means no rush. Between selling and buying, a weekly rental keeps the commute normal.
