Shopping for a car in Townsend
CarmaCars does not sell cars. We rent them, which makes us a good place to try a model before you buy. Banks and credit unions arrange car loans; CarmaCars does not, but we can rent you a car while you sort one out. We are not a lender and do not arrange loans. A monthly rental can bridge the time while you arrange one with your bank.
Why rent first
Bring the car seat, the hockey bag or the dog, and see if it all fits. Try the car with the people who will ride in it most. Testing the car for a week shows how it handles your parking, your passengers and your bags.
A buyer's checklist
Check open recalls with Transport Canada or the maker, using the VIN. A Safety Standards Certificate is needed in Ontario to register a used car you buy. Compare the total cost, not only the monthly payment: interest, fees and insurance add up. Drive the car on the roads you use every day, at the times you usually drive.
While you shop
If the purchase falls through, you still have a car to drive. There is no long contract: each booking runs up to 365 days and can be renewed. A rental keeps you driving if your old car sells sooner than planned.
