Read the contract before you sign, and ask about every fee you do not understand. For a used car, ask for the vehicle's service records and look up its recall history by the VIN.

Selling privately can take time; a rental means no rush. Rent by the week while you compare, and stop the day your next car arrives. A monthly rental keeps life moving while your financing is sorted out elsewhere.
