Shopping for a car in Tyro

CarmaCars rents cars and does not sell, lend or lease, but renting first is a smart step before buying. We are not a lender and do not arrange loans. A monthly rental can bridge the time while you arrange one with your bank. Banks and credit unions arrange car loans; CarmaCars does not, but we can rent you a car while you sort one out.

A test drive that lasts

Testing the car for a week shows how it handles your parking, your passengers and your bags. A rental shows you the small things: the seat after an hour, the blind spots, the trunk with your stroller in it. Renting the model you are thinking of buying, for a day or a week, is a real test drive on your own roads.

A buyer's checklist

Make sure every warning light goes out after the car starts. Ask how many owners the car has had and how it was used. Check the tires and brakes: replacing them adds to the real price. Ask whether the car has been in an accident and how it was repaired.

Bridging the gap

A rental keeps you driving if your old car sells sooner than planned. Selling privately can take time; a rental means no rush. If the purchase falls through, you still have a car to drive.
