Before you buy in Darboy
Looking to buy? CarmaCars rents cars instead, which makes a test week easy. We do not check credit for loans or lend money; renting needs a licence, an identity check and a card. We are not a lender and do not arrange loans. A monthly rental can bridge the time while you arrange one with your bank.
Why rent first
A rental lets you judge fuel use for yourself, on your own routes. If we have the model in our fleet, its page shows the rates; if not, a similar car gives you a feel for the class. Many buyers rent the car they are considering for a weekend before they visit a dealer.
Questions to ask
In Ontario, a private seller must give the buyer a Used Vehicle Information Package. A Safety Standards Certificate is needed in Ontario to register a used car you buy. Make sure every warning light goes out after the car starts. Ask for a test drive on the highway as well as in town.
Between cars
A rental keeps you driving if your old car sells sooner than planned. Between selling and buying, a weekly rental keeps the commute normal. Need a car while a dealer prepares yours? Rent one by the week.
