Buying a car in Elgin

CarmaCars is a rental company, so we do not sell cars; renting one first is how we help buyers. Banks and credit unions arrange car loans; CarmaCars does not, but we can rent you a car while you sort one out. We do not check credit for loans or lend money; renting needs a licence, an identity check and a card.

Drive it like you own it

If we have the model in our fleet, its page shows the rates; if not, a similar car gives you a feel for the class. Try the car on a highway drive, a grocery run and a tight parking spot before you sign. Bring the car seat, the hockey bag or the dog, and see if it all fits.

A buyer's checklist

Compare the total cost, not only the monthly payment: interest, fees and insurance add up. In Ontario, a private seller must give the buyer a Used Vehicle Information Package. Ask for a test drive on the highway as well as in town. Ask your insurer for a quote on the exact model before you commit.

A car meanwhile

Need a car for a road trip before you buy? Rent one for the trip. If the car you want is weeks away, rent one month at a time and stop when it arrives. Use a rental to try a different kind of car before you commit to one.

Where CarmaCars works

We have one location, in Toronto, and none in Elgin. About 1,325 km from our location in Toronto, Elgin is too far for our delivery area of about 250 km.

If you move to the Toronto area, renting the car you want to buy is easy. Shopping in Elgin? A rental from Toronto only makes sense if your trip starts here. If you still want to ask about Elgin, send a request; we would rather say no than overpromise. Prices on this site are in Canadian dollars.

Your move

Ask about renting first, and buy with a clear head.
