Shopping for a car in Potlatch

We are a rental company, not a dealer or a lender, and this page explains how renting can help a buyer. We are not a lender and do not arrange loans. A monthly rental can bridge the time while you arrange one with your bank. If credit is the obstacle, a monthly rental is one way to have a car while you sort it out; renting is not a loan, so there is no credit check.

Why rent first

A rental shows you the small things: the seat after an hour, the blind spots, the trunk with your stroller in it. Many buyers rent the car they are considering for a weekend before they visit a dealer. If we have the model in our fleet, its page shows the rates; if not, a similar car gives you a feel for the class.

Checks worth doing

A Safety Standards Certificate is needed in Ontario to register a used car you buy. Measure your parking spot or garage before you fall for a bigger car. Ask how many owners the car has had and how it was used. Have a mechanic inspect a used car before you buy it, at a shop you choose.

Bridging the gap

A rental keeps you driving if your old car sells sooner than planned. There is no long contract: each booking runs up to 365 days and can be renewed. You can switch to a different car at the end of a booking, which helps if you are comparing.

Distance, honestly

Potlatch is not an area we serve directly. CarmaCars is based in Toronto. With Potlatch about 2,934 km from Toronto, it is outside the 250 km we cover.

Shopping in Potlatch? A rental from Toronto only makes sense if your trip starts here. If you move to the Toronto area, renting the car you want to buy is easy. We would rather tell you no than overpromise, so ask about Potlatch if you like. Rates are shown in Canadian dollars.
