Buying a car in Shaffer

CarmaCars does not sell cars. We rent them, which makes us a good place to try a model before you buy. We do not check credit for loans or lend money; renting needs a licence, an identity check and a card. If credit is the obstacle, a monthly rental is one way to have a car while you sort it out; renting is not a loan, so there is no credit check.

Rent it before you buy it

Renting the model first is a simple way to avoid buying the wrong car. You can rent for a week, or up to 365 days, and nothing is charged until we confirm and you approve. Testing the car for a week shows how it handles your parking, your passengers and your bags.

Checks worth doing

Check the tires and brakes: replacing them adds to the real price. Ask for a test drive on the highway as well as in town. Compare the total cost, not only the monthly payment: interest, fees and insurance add up. Read the contract before you sign, and ask about every fee you do not understand.

A car meanwhile

Selling privately can take time; a rental means no rush. Rent the kind of car you plan to buy while you shop for it. If the car you want is weeks away, rent one month at a time and stop when it arrives.
