Car Financing: what CarmaCars does
To be upfront: CarmaCars is a rental company and does not sell cars or arrange loans. If credit is the obstacle, a monthly rental is one way to have a car while you sort it out; renting is not a loan, so there is no credit check. Banks and credit unions arrange car loans; CarmaCars does not, but we can rent you a car while you sort one out.
Try it for a week first
A rental shows you the small things: the seat after an hour, the blind spots, the trunk with your stroller in it. If you are torn between two models, rent one, then the other. A week of normal life with the car is the best test drive there is.
What to check before you buy
A Safety Standards Certificate is needed in Ontario to register a used car you buy. Find out whether the car has open recalls before you agree on a price. Check the date on the tires and the condition of the brakes. Look for rust under the doors and around the wheel arches.
Before your next car arrives
There is no long contract, so a rental fits around any purchase date. Rent the kind of car you plan to buy while you shop for it. If the car you want is weeks away, rent one month at a time and stop when it arrives.
