Buying a car in Toronto

CarmaCars does not sell cars or arrange loans; we rent cars, which helps when you are deciding. Banks and credit unions arrange car loans; CarmaCars does not, but we can rent you a car while you sort one out. We are not a lender and do not arrange loans. A monthly rental can bridge the time while you arrange one with your bank.

Rent it before you buy it

Try the car on a highway drive, a grocery run and a tight parking spot before you sign. Try the car with the people who will ride in it most. Many buyers rent the car they are considering for a weekend before they visit a dealer.

Questions to ask

Have a mechanic inspect a used car before you buy it, at a shop you choose. In Ontario, a private seller must give the buyer a Used Vehicle Information Package. Ask your insurer for a quote on the exact model before you commit. A Safety Standards Certificate is needed in Ontario to register a used car you buy.

A car meanwhile

Need a car for a road trip before you buy? Rent one for the trip. You can switch to a different car at the end of a booking, which helps if you are comparing. A rental keeps you driving if your old car sells sooner than planned.
