A Safety Standards Certificate is needed in Ontario to register a used car you buy. For a used car, ask for the vehicle's service records and look up its recall history by the VIN.

While you shop

Sold your car already? Rent by the week while you shop for the next one. Selling privately can take time; a rental means no rush. There is no long contract, so a rental fits around any purchase date.
