Shopping for a car in Wise Gap

Looking to buy? CarmaCars rents cars instead, which makes a test week easy. If credit is the obstacle, a monthly rental is one way to have a car while you sort it out; renting is not a loan, so there is no credit check. Banks and credit unions arrange car loans; CarmaCars does not, but we can rent you a car while you sort one out.

Why rent first

Bring the car seat, the hockey bag or the dog, and see if it all fits. A rental shows you the small things: the seat after an hour, the blind spots, the trunk with your stroller in it. Renting the model you are thinking of buying, for a day or a week, is a real test drive on your own roads.

Questions to ask

Look at real fuel use for the model, not only the advertised figure. For a used car, ask for the vehicle's service records and look up its recall history by the VIN. Have a mechanic inspect a used car before you buy it, at a shop you choose. Look for rust under the doors and around the wheel arches.

Between cars

If the purchase falls through, you still have a car to drive. Need a car for a road trip before you buy? Rent one for the trip. A rental can carry you through the paperwork of a private sale.
