Buying a car in Downs

CarmaCars does not sell cars or arrange loans; we rent cars, which helps when you are deciding. Tell us the car you are looking for and we will help where we can, and you can rent a similar car first. Shop for the car anywhere you like, and rent the same model from us first if we have it.

Rent it before you buy it

Testing the car for a week shows how it handles your parking, your passengers and your bags. Bring the car seat, the hockey bag or the dog, and see if it all fits. Many buyers rent the car they are considering for a weekend before they visit a dealer.

Checks worth doing

Look for rust under the doors and around the wheel arches. For a used car, ask for the vehicle's service records and look up its recall history by the VIN. Have a mechanic inspect a used car before you buy it, at a shop you choose. Confirm the ownership and that no money is still owed on the car.

Between cars

A rental keeps you driving if your old car sells sooner than planned. Rent by the week while you compare, and stop the day your next car arrives. Sold your car already? Rent by the week while you shop for the next one.
