A buyer's checklist

Confirm the ownership and that no money is still owed on the car. For a used car, ask for the vehicle's service records and look up its recall history by the VIN. A Safety Standards Certificate is needed in Ontario to register a used car you buy. Drive the car on the roads you use every day, at the times you usually drive.

Need a car while a dealer prepares yours? Rent one by the week. A rental means you never have to rush a purchase because you need wheels. Renting while you shop lets you compare cars without pressure.
