Buying the Genesis
CarmaCars rents cars and does not sell the Genesis; this page helps you judge it before you buy one elsewhere. Before you buy the Genesis, here is what the figures say and what to look at.
A buyer's checks
Look at the tires, brakes and battery; they are costly to replace. A private seller in Ontario must give you a Used Vehicle Information Package. Ask the seller for the service records of this exact car. Check whether every recall was done, by the VIN, before you pay.
Specs, explained
The EPA does not rate this model year for fuel use; heavier trucks and vans are often not rated.
Is it right for your trip?
It suits a work trip where a reliable car matters more than anything else. It suits anyone who needs a car for a few days, a week or a month without buying one.
Drive it on your own roads
Load it with your things and park it where you park; then decide. A week of your own driving tells you more than a test drive: the commute, the parking, the fuel. If it is in our fleet, rent it; if not, a similar car gives you a feel for the class.
The cost of driving it
Get an insurance quote for this exact model before you buy; rates differ a lot between models. Ask what a set of tires costs for this trim; sizes and prices vary. A pre-purchase inspection is a small cost next to the price of the car.
Year and trim
Write down the VIN of any car you consider; it unlocks the recall and service history. Decide what matters most first: fuel use, space, or the price you can pay. Look at a few listings of the same year and trim to get a feel for fair prices.
Your move
Send a request to rent the model first, or ask us what we can do.

Buying the Genesis
Does CarmaCars sell the Genesis?
Not right now. CarmaCars rents cars; it sells one only now and then. Tell us what you want and we look for one, or rent one for a week first.
Can I rent a Genesis before I buy one?
Yes. Request it for a week (or longer, up to 365 days) and drive it as your own; nothing is charged until we confirm and you approve.
Where do the figures come from?
Fuel use and fuel cost from the US EPA (fueleconomy.gov), dimensions and weight from NHTSA vPIC Canadian specifications, recalls and complaints from NHTSA. We leave out any figure no free source publishes.
