Questions to ask

Find out whether the car has open recalls before you agree on a price. Look for rust under the doors and around the wheel arches. Ask for a test drive on the highway as well as in town. Make sure every warning light goes out after the car starts.

Between cars

A rental keeps you driving if your old car sells sooner than planned. If the car you want is weeks away, rent one month at a time and stop when it arrives. A monthly rental keeps life moving while your financing is sorted out elsewhere.
