Trade In: what CarmaCars does

CarmaCars is not where you buy a car, but it can be where you try one first. Between cars? Rent one by the week or the month while you decide what to do with yours. Selling a car can take weeks; a weekly rental means you do not have to keep it until it sells.

A test drive that lasts

A rental shows you the small things: the seat after an hour, the blind spots, the trunk with your stroller in it. Rent for a weekend to answer the big question: is this the right car? A week of normal life with the car is the best test drive there is.

What to check before you buy

Confirm the ownership and that no money is still owed on the car. Make sure every warning light goes out after the car starts. Check open recalls with Transport Canada or the maker, using the VIN. Ask for a test drive on the highway as well as in town.

While you shop

Rent by the week while you compare, and stop the day your next car arrives. Rent the kind of car you plan to buy while you shop for it. Selling privately can take time; a rental means no rush.
