Trade In: what CarmaCars does

Looking to buy? CarmaCars rents cars instead, which makes a test week easy. Between cars? Rent one by the week or the month while you decide what to do with yours. Selling a car can take weeks; a weekly rental means you do not have to keep it until it sells.

Why rent first

Bring the car seat, the hockey bag or the dog, and see if it all fits. Rent for a weekend to answer the big question: is this the right car? If we have the model in our fleet, its page shows the rates; if not, a similar car gives you a feel for the class.

Questions to ask

Read the contract before you sign, and ask about every fee you do not understand. In Ontario, a private seller must give the buyer a Used Vehicle Information Package. Drive the car on the roads you use every day, at the times you usually drive. A Safety Standards Certificate is needed in Ontario to register a used car you buy.

While you shop

Need a car while a dealer prepares yours? Rent one by the week. Selling privately can take time; a rental means no rush. Weekly and monthly rates make a rental a sensible bridge between cars.
