Trade In for Clair

Looking to buy? CarmaCars rents cars instead, which makes a test week easy. We do not buy cars or take trade-ins. If you would rather keep your car and have it earn, our owner program rents it out for you. Selling a car can take weeks; a weekly rental means you do not have to keep it until it sells.

Drive it like you own it

A week of your own driving tells you more than twenty minutes with a salesperson: the commute, the parking, the fuel. A rental shows you the small things: the seat after an hour, the blind spots, the trunk with your stroller in it. A few days with the car answers whether the seats, the space and the fuel use suit you.

Questions to ask

Ask your insurer for a quote on the exact model before you commit. Compare the total cost, not only the monthly payment: interest, fees and insurance add up. Look for rust under the doors and around the wheel arches. Ask how many owners the car has had and how it was used.

Bridging the gap

A monthly rental keeps life moving while your financing is sorted out elsewhere. If the car you want is weeks away, rent one month at a time and stop when it arrives. A rental can carry you through the paperwork of a private sale.
