Trade In: what CarmaCars does

We are a rental company, not a dealer or a lender, and this page explains how renting can help a buyer. Between cars? Rent one by the week or the month while you decide what to do with yours. Selling a car can take weeks; a weekly rental means you do not have to keep it until it sells.

Why rent first

If you are torn between two models, rent one, then the other. Rent the model, take it on the roads you know, and decide with confidence. A rental shows you the small things: the seat after an hour, the blind spots, the trunk with your stroller in it.

Before you sign

Confirm the ownership and that no money is still owed on the car. Have a mechanic inspect a used car before you buy it, at a shop you choose. For a used car, ask for the vehicle's service records and look up its recall history by the VIN. In Ontario, a private seller must give the buyer a Used Vehicle Information Package.

While you shop

There is no long contract: each booking runs up to 365 days and can be renewed. Rent by the week while you compare, and stop the day your next car arrives. Need a car for a road trip before you buy? Rent one for the trip.

Honest about Mapleton

Mapleton is not an area we serve directly. CarmaCars is based in Toronto. With Mapleton about 1,344 km from Toronto, it is outside the 80 km we cover.

If you are in the Toronto area before you shop, rent the model from us there. If you move to the Toronto area, renting the car you want to buy is easy. Send a request about Mapleton, and we reply with a clear yes or no. Rates are shown in Canadian dollars.
