Trade In: what CarmaCars does

CarmaCars is not where you buy a car, but it can be where you try one first. Between cars? Rent one by the week or the month while you decide what to do with yours. Selling a car can take weeks; a weekly rental means you do not have to keep it until it sells.

Why rent first

Renting the model first is a simple way to avoid buying the wrong car. A few days with the car answers whether the seats, the space and the fuel use suit you. A week of your own driving tells you more than twenty minutes with a salesperson: the commute, the parking, the fuel.

Before you sign

Ask how many owners the car has had and how it was used. Look at real fuel use for the model, not only the advertised figure. Ask for a test drive on the highway as well as in town. Make sure every warning light goes out after the car starts.

While you shop

Selling privately can take time; a rental means no rush. Rent the kind of car you plan to buy while you shop for it. Use a rental to try a different kind of car before you commit to one.
