Under the hood

It uses the 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo and all-wheel drive. The turbo gives a small engine the pull of a bigger one when you need it. With all-wheel drive, it pulls away more surely on slippery roads, though it does not stop any shorter.

Its combined rating is 9.7 L/100 km, which means roughly 29 litres for 300 km. That works out to about $16.97 per 100 km at our price setting.

Space, size and seats

The higher seat of a compact SUV gives a good view of the road in traffic. It measures 4.66 m long by 1.89 m wide. It fits most condo and driveway spots.

Best uses

It suits visitors who want a familiar car for a week in town. It suits anyone who needs a car for a few days, a week or a month without buying one.

What to expect when you book

Choose a car, set the pickup and return times, and send the request. You pay nothing to ask. The offer comes from a person, not a robot, and it carries the full price. If it suits you, approve it and pay. Until then, nothing is charged.

Each car shows its own extra kilometre rate, so nothing surprises you later. From 7 days, the weekly rate takes over. Same-day requests are fine with at least 2 hours of notice, when the car is free.

Rules for renters

Drivers from 18 up, with an Ontario G2 or G licence, are welcome. The young driver fee covers drivers under 26; older drivers pay no age fee. The card you pay with must be yours, and you bring it to the handover.

The CarmaCars Protection Plan is priced in your offer by car and driver age, as one of three options for damage to the car. The deposit is taken shortly before pickup, and the balance comes back after the return. Every driver's licence and identity are checked before we confirm.
