Meet the 2021 Ford Explorer Timberline

The 2021 Ford Explorer Timberline, a full-size SUV, in numbers and in plain words. The Timberline is number 5 of the 6 trims sold in Canada for 2021.

The Explorer and Java

Java is about 3,178 km from our Toronto location, beyond the area we deliver to. If you are starting from Toronto, rent the car here and drive it to Java.

The pages for Klinefelter, Ibis and Arrowhead Junction cover the areas next door.

Choosing a colour

A colour can never be promised before we confirm; ask for gold in your request. In gold, the Explorer looks like the studio image; real photos are on each car's page. Tell us if gold is a must or a preference, and we look accordingly.

The figures, translated

Its powertrain is the 2.3L 4-cylinder turbo with four-wheel drive. It runs on regular gas. Four-wheel drive helps on rough ground and deep snow; on dry roads it behaves like any other vehicle.

At 11.4 L/100 km combined, a 300 km drive takes roughly 34 litres of fuel. At our price setting, driving 100 km costs about $17.67, and a 300 km weekend about $53.01.

Living with the Explorer

An SUV body means more headroom and a taller cargo opening than a car of the same length.

Who rents the Explorer

It uses more fuel than most, so it suits shorter trips or people who need its size. It suits a family trip where everyone and everything fits in one car.

Renting the Explorer from CarmaCars

Ask for your dates, and we reply with what we can offer. None in our fleet right now; ask and we look for one for your dates. Meanwhile, 6 similar cars are listed below.

Before you rent

Renters must be at least 18 and hold an Ontario G2 or G licence. Drivers under 26 pay a young driver fee for each day, shown on each car's page. A credit card in your name is needed, except on cars marked "no credit card needed", which take debit.

Damage to the car is handled one of three ways: OPCF 27 on your policy, a credit card's rental car benefit, or the CarmaCars Protection Plan. The deposit comes about 1 hour before you get the car, not at booking. Every renter goes through the same check of licence and identity before the car is confirmed.

How to book

Start with a request. Choose the car, the pickup time and the return time, and send it without paying anything. Next comes our offer, with the confirmed car and every charge on one page. Approving the offer and paying it confirms the booking.

Each car shows its own extra kilometre rate, so nothing surprises you later. Need it longer than 365 days? Renew with a new agreement when the booking ends. Give us 2 hours or more before the pickup and we can usually make it work.
