    A good match for

It suits someone whose own car is in the shop for a while. It suits a family trip where everyone and everything fits in one car.

    A longer test drive

Try the Kicks on your commute, then decide. Rent the Kicks first, and buy only if it fits your life. Renting first costs a fraction of the price of buying the wrong car.

    What it costs to run

Ask what a set of tires costs for this trim; sizes and prices vary. The EPA estimates US$2,050 a year in fuel for 15,000 miles at US prices. At our price setting, 100 km costs about $11.16 in fuel.

    Year and trim

Set a budget that includes tax, licensing, insurance and the first set of tires. Look at a few listings of the same year and trim to get a feel for fair prices. Decide what matters most first: fuel use, space, or the price you can pay.
