Use the grade of fuel your owner's manual calls for. Have the battery tested before winter if it is more than a few years old. Have the cabin air filter changed on the maker's schedule.
Before the shop starts
Ask the shop to explain the repair in plain words before you agree. Keep the invoice; it is part of the car's service history. Ask the shop to call you before doing anything not on the estimate.
