Car diagnostics: how we help
CarmaCars does not do this work itself. For a diagnostic check on the 1981 BMW 528e, we arrange it with a trusted shop or connect you with one. A warning light is the car asking for a diagnostic scan; the code tells the shop where to look.
Before the shop sees your 528e
Note the mileage on the odometer when you send the request. Bring the owner's manual or service records if you have them. Tell the shop about any warning light or sound you have noticed.
How the request works
We pass your request to a trusted shop or give you its name. We follow up until the shop has the car booked in. Your request goes to a person, who arranges a trusted shop or gives you its name.
No car? Rent one meanwhile
A rental from us keeps you moving while the shop has your car. The rental is priced like any other on our site. Delivery starts at $0 plus distance; collecting the car yourself is free.
Good habits for your car
Look at the tire tread before long trips. Check the tire pressure once a month, when the tires are cold. Have the cabin air filter changed on the maker's schedule.
Questions to ask the shop
Ask whether the quote includes both parts and labour. Ask if the shop needs the car for a full day or only a few hours. Ask whether the shop needs your keys, the wheel lock key or the spare.
Talk to a person
Describe the problem, and we arrange a trusted shop.
Request car diagnostics
Tell us when suits you. A person replies within one business day and arranges it with a trusted shop or recommends one; the shop sets its own price and time.
