Keep the invoice; it is part of the car's service history. Ask whether the quote includes both parts and labour. Ask how long the job should take, so you know how long to rent for.
Between shop visits
Look at the tire tread before long trips. Note the mileage when each service is done, so you know when the next is due. If the car pulls to one side, ask the shop to check the alignment and the tires.
