Ask the shop to explain the repair in plain words before you agree. Keep the invoice; it is part of the car's service history. Ask how the shop will contact you if it finds something unexpected.
Between shop visits
If the car pulls to one side, ask the shop to check the alignment and the tires. Check that all lights work every few weeks. Look at the tire tread before long trips.
