The 1981 Ford FT900: Car diagnostics
Need a diagnostic check for your 1981 Ford FT900? We do not do mechanical work, but we arrange it with a trusted shop and keep you driving meanwhile. A steady check engine light needs a check soon; a flashing one means pull over safely and get help.
Before the shop sees your FT900
If you have the service history of your FT900, have it ready for the shop. The shop sets its own price and time after it sees the car. Say whether the car is drivable; it changes how it gets to the shop.
From request to repair
Your request goes to a person, who arranges a trusted shop or gives you its name. The shop sets the price and the time after seeing the car. We pass your request to a trusted shop or give you its name.
Keep moving meanwhile
A rental keeps your week on track during the repair. We collect the rental when your car is back. The car can come to your door in the Toronto area, or you pick it up at no charge.
Talking to the shop
Ask whether the shop needs your keys, the wheel lock key or the spare. Ask whether anything else is close to needing attention, and how soon. Ask for a written estimate before any work starts.
Between shop visits
Wash the underside of the car in winter to clear road salt. Top up the washer fluid with a winter mix in the cold months. Have the battery tested before winter if it is more than a few years old.
