Ask whether the shop will check anything related while the car is there. If you want to see the old parts, ask for them back. Ask the shop to explain the repair in plain words before you agree.
Good habits for your car
Note the mileage when each service is done, so you know when the next is due. Keep the fuel tank above a quarter in winter. Switch to winter tires before the first snow, and back in spring.
