The smart: Car diagnostics
For a diagnostic check on the smart, CarmaCars arranges a trusted shop and rents you a car while yours is in. A warning light is the car asking for a diagnostic scan; the code tells the shop where to look.
Your car, your notes
Bring the owner's manual or service records if you have them. Mention the trim and engine in your request; parts differ between them. The shop may ask for the VIN to order the right parts.
What to send us
Send the car's details and what it needs; we take it from there. You approve the shop's quote before any work. The repair is between you and the shop; the rental is with us.
A car while yours is in the shop
We collect the rental when your car is back. We can have a rental ready the day your car goes in. The car can come to your door in the Toronto area, or you pick it up at no charge.
Small things that help
Keep an emergency kit in the trunk in winter. Have the battery tested before winter if it is more than a few years old. Follow the maintenance schedule in your owner's manual, by time or distance.
A short checklist
Ask how the shop takes payment before you pick the car up. Ask when the car will be ready and how the shop will tell you. Ask whether the quote includes both parts and labour.
Talk to a person
A request is free and gets a reply within one business day.
Request car diagnostics
Tell us when suits you. A person replies within one business day and arranges it with a trusted shop or recommends one; the shop sets its own price and time.
