The 2021 Audi A4 Technik for buyers

CarmaCars is a rental company and does not have the 2021 Audi A4 Technik for sale right now. Rent one for a week first, or ask us to look for one. CarmaCars does not finance cars. Renting is not a loan, so there is no credit check to rent. This page sets out the 2021 Audi A4 Technik for buyers, in plain words.

A buyer's checks

In Ontario, a used car needs a Safety Standards Certificate to be registered. Ask for the service records and check open recalls by the VIN. Owners filed 13 complaints with NHTSA, most often about electrical system, forward collision avoidance and power train; have those parts checked. Check whether every recall was done, by the VIN, before you pay.

Engine and fuel

The engine is the 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo hybrid, with all-wheel drive and a 7-speed automatic. It is a hybrid: the battery charges itself as you drive and brake, so there is nothing to plug in. All-wheel drive helps when pulling away on snow; braking and steering still depend on the tires.

The EPA rates it at 8.3 L/100 km combined, so a 300 km weekend uses about 25 litres. A 300 km round trip costs roughly $38.61 at our price setting. The EPA estimates US$2,950 a year in fuel for 15,000 miles.

Good uses for the A4

It suits anyone who needs a car for a few days, a week or a month without buying one. It suits someone whose own car is in the shop for a while.

Room inside

As a compact car, it is easy to drive and park in the city. The trunk holds 340 litres by the EPA's count: about two large suitcases and a few soft bags.

Drive it on your own roads

A week with the A4 answers more than any brochure. Nothing is charged until we confirm the rental and you approve the offer. Renting first costs a fraction of the price of buying the wrong car.

Narrowing it down

Ask the seller which trim it is; badges can be swapped and options vary. If two trims share a powertrain, the difference is equipment, which you can check in person. A newer year is not always better; check what changed before paying more for it.

The cost of driving it

Tires, brakes and batteries are the regular costs to budget for beyond fuel. Ask what a set of tires costs for this trim; sizes and prices vary. A pre-purchase inspection is a small cost next to the price of the car.

Ready to ask?

A week with the car can save a costly mistake: request it now.
