The 2019 Honda Civic Type R for buyers

We rent cars and sell one only now and then. There is no 2019 Honda Civic Type R for sale by us right now. We are not a lender and do not arrange loans. A buyer's checks

Look at the tires, brakes and battery; they are costly to replace. In Ontario, a used car needs a Safety Standards Certificate to be registered. NHTSA lists 4 recall campaigns for this model; ask the seller for proof each one was fixed. NHTSA has 455 owner complaints on file, mostly about steering, fuel/propulsion system and fuel system.

    The figures, translated

The 1.5L 4-cylinder turbo is what moves it, with front-wheel drive. It runs on regular gas. Front-wheel drive is the usual layout for cars this size, predictable in the rain and the snow.

The combined figure, 6.9 L/100 km, means roughly 21 litres for 300 km. In money, 1,000 km costs about $107 at our price setting. EPA puts its fuel cost at US$1,960 a year for 15,000 miles at US prices.

    Living with the Civic

As a compact car, it has a closed trunk that keeps luggage out of sight. The EPA lists 736 litres for luggage, roughly bulky luggage, a stroller or sports gear.

    Good uses for the Civic

It suits anyone who needs a car for a few days, a week or a month without buying one. It suits someone whose own car is in the shop for a while.

Drive it on your own roads

Drive the Civic on your commute before you commit to it. Load it with your things and park it where you park; then decide. Rent the Civic for a week, or up to 365 days, before you commit to buying one.

    Running costs

A pre-purchase inspection is a small cost next to the price of the car. The EPA estimates US$1,960 a year in fuel for 15,000 miles at US prices. At our price setting, 100 km costs about $10.70 in fuel.

    Year and trim

Look at a few listings of the same year and trim to get a feel for fair prices. Write down the VIN of any car you consider; it unlocks the recall and service history. Decide what matters most first: fuel use, space, or the price you can pay.

    The Civic and Farmbrook

We have no location in Farmbrook; CarmaCars rents from Toronto, about 509 km away. If you are starting from Toronto, rent the car here and drive it to Farmbrook.
