Buying the 2021 Honda Odyssey Touring

CarmaCars is a rental company and does not have the 2021 Honda Odyssey Touring for sale right now. Rent one for a week first, or ask us to look for one. We are not a lender and do not arrange loans. A monthly rental can cover the time while you arrange financing with your bank. Here is what to know about the 2021 Honda Odyssey Touring before buying one.

What to check on the Odyssey

Ask for the service records and check open recalls by the VIN. Look at the tires, brakes and battery; they are costly to replace. Check whether every recall was done, by the VIN, before you pay. In Ontario, a used car needs a Safety Standards Certificate to be registered.

    What the figures tell you

It runs the 3.5L 6-cylinder, with front-wheel drive. It runs on regular gas. Front-wheel drive is the usual layout for cars this size, predictable in the rain and the snow.

Plan on about 32 litres per 300 km; the combined rating is 10.5 L/100 km. The fuel for 100 km comes to about $16.28 at our price setting. At US fuel prices, the EPA estimates US$3,050 a year for 15,000 miles.

    Room inside

Being a minivan, it carries people and their bags without fuss.

    Who rents the Odyssey

It suits someone whose own car is in the shop for a while. It suits anyone who needs a car for a few days, a week or a month without buying one.

    A longer test drive

Drive the Odyssey on your commute before you commit to it. A week of your own driving tells you more than a test drive: the commute, the parking, the fuel. Rent the Odyssey for a week, or up to 365 days, before you commit to buying one.

    The cost of driving it

At our price setting, 100 km costs about $16.28 in fuel. Ask what a set of tires costs for this trim; sizes and prices vary. A pre-purchase inspection is a small cost next to the price of the car.

    Year and trim

Ask the seller which trim it is; badges can be swapped and options vary. A newer year is not always better; check what changed before paying more for it. Look at a few listings of the same year and trim to get a feel for fair prices.

    The Odyssey and Yameri

Yameri is about 3,364 km from our Toronto location, beyond the area we deliver to. If you are starting from Toronto, rent the car here and drive it to Yameri.
