Buying the 2021 Kia Sorento EX

We rent cars and sell one only now and then. There is no 2021 Kia Sorento EX for sale by us right now. CarmaCars does not finance cars. Renting is not a loan, so there is no credit check to rent. Buying the 2021 Kia Sorento EX is a big decision; here is the information we have.

Recalls and complaints

Ask the seller for the service records of this exact car. A pre-purchase inspection at a shop you choose is money well spent. A private seller in Ontario must give you a Used Vehicle Information Package. Check whether every recall was done, by the VIN, before you pay.

What the specs mean

The 2.5L 4-cylinder with front-wheel drive is the powertrain to look at. It runs on regular gas. Front-wheel drive is the usual layout for cars this size, predictable in the rain and the snow.

The combined figure, 9.0 L/100 km, means roughly 27 litres for 300 km. For 1,000 km, budget about $139.50 at our price setting. EPA puts its fuel cost at US$2,600 a year for 15,000 miles at US prices.

Who the Sorento suits

Families, skiers and anyone with bulky luggage. It suits a work trip where a reliable car matters more than anything else.

What the Sorento is like

An SUV body means more headroom and a taller cargo opening than a car of the same length.

A longer test drive

Nothing is charged until we confirm the rental and you approve the offer. A week with the Sorento answers more than any brochure. Drive the Sorento on your commute before you commit to it.

Which one to look for

Decide what matters most first: fuel use, space, or the price you can pay. Write down the VIN of any car you consider; it unlocks the recall and service history. If you are unsure between two options, rent one of them for a week first.

Running costs

The EPA estimates US$2,600 a year in fuel for 15,000 miles at US prices. At our price setting, 100 km costs about $13.95 in fuel. Get an insurance quote for this exact model before you buy; rates differ a lot between models.
